Cook chicken livers in a pot of salted water until tender and cooked through (this should take about 15 minutes). Drain the water from the chicken livers and allow them to cool.
Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until tender. Next, add brandy to the butter and bring it to a boil. Remove from heat and cool completely.
